Encouragement from the book of Daniel!

The Beth Moore Bible study on Daniel continues and I keep running across golden nuggets!

In the 9th chapter, it tells us that Daniel realized that the 70 years of captivity could be coming to an end so he turned his attention to God to pray about the whole situation. It goes on to say that while he was still praying God sent the angel Gabriel to him with an answer! Wow! Talk about dramatic! That was a pretty quick response!

Unfortunately, it seems that I don't seem to get answers as quickly. . . but quoted words from the Bible study book are helpful. "God doesn't have voice mail. He doesn't check His messages when He gets a minute. We're not put on hold and told all calls will be answered in the order received. We don't have to wait until someone else finishes for ours to be heard. When we bring our earnest confessions and petitions before God, while we are still in prayer, He hears." Receiving the answer may take time, but God always, always, always hears our prayers and will answer when and as He sees fit. Our prayers do matter and my prayers, your prayers can affect many other people. God's activity is not limited to what we can see with our human eyes, even though that's what Satan hopes we'll think. It's okay to keep right on praying and right on believing even if it takes years for the answers to come. Amen. End of sermon.

Am I Dead?

Has anyone ever asked you that question in complete seriousness? Well, I've been asked that question many, many times by the same person!

What's my stock answer? "I don't think so. Dead people don't talk!" May sound kind of hard-hearted on my part but sometimes resorting to humor is the way I keep myself sane.
