Oh Me Oh My!! Sympathy Please!

It's a good thing that I have a guardian angel watching out for me and that God protects me from my own stupidity.

Last night, (I'm still in FL, remember) I made a "date" with friends Linda and Judy to show them a few recent stampin techniques, so I headed off to Linda's house. I was driving our rental van and very much aware that I needed to treat it with the utmost TLC to make sure nothing happened to so much as place a scratch on it. When I got to Linda's street, I couldn't remember her house # or exactly which house was hers, so I drove into the wrong driveway at first. Pretty quickly I discovered my error and began to most cautiously back out. The driveway was curvy, the traffic pretty steadily coming down the street, when finally I saw a break and gunned the accelerator slightly, (thank God it was really slightly!) to swing out into the street. But instead, I heard a sickening "thud!" What?? What had I bumped? My heart dropped to my boots. You won't believe it, but I had backed into a telephone pole!! Don't laugh. It wasn't funny. You can wonder how I could have missed it or how I could have been so dumb. I wonder that myself, but I did miss it and I was that dumb. I sat there, dead positive that the back was caved in and that I was in big trouble, but I decided that the sooner I got out and assessed the damage, the better.

And guess what? There was mostly some black stuff from the telephone pole transferred to the white bumper and a slight, very slight abrasion in the paint. I immediately went in and called Linda out to help assure me that it didn't look too bad and Dale came out too. He was sooo encouraging and even took it upon himself to clean off all the black stuff, carefully washing it with soap and making it look almost like new. When he was through, he declared up and down that he'd never notice a thing out of order now. Whew! double, triple whew! God is good and once again has compensated for my humanity.

I wonder if anyone else has ever done anything this stupid? or am I the only one?

Um, no. You may remember a certain incident in the parking lot of Langdon Place with *your* minivan!

(Due to removing glasses before grazing the beautifully painted bumper of the neighboring car).

    :O)

Oh, yeah! One time I backed into a large rock and bent my tailpipe. But it wasn't my car, either. It was my dad's car. Oops.

    Scag says:
All my car bumps are others hitting
    me,(thankfully), not thankful for
damage, just them paying for it. But... really stupid, we have nice warm heaters (ETS), narrow, but so nice to sit on. Just don't fall alseep there and fall off with ribs hitting edge of a chair, ouch they hurt.
