Lights, lights, lights!

Finally all the lights are up in front of our house. Whew! Next year I don't know if I'll be able to string the lights on the arborvitae from my trusty step stool. This year I had to reach as high as I possibly could, then grab the branch and pull it down so I could string the lights on it. So with 5-600 lights/tree, they're looking pretty good. The only thing is that the timer didn't work to shut the lights off of one of the trees so they were on all night. I thought only rich people and electricians had timers on their outdoor Christmas lights, but this year I decided that since we're rich and Neil is a pretty good electrician himself, we could probably use timers instead of my wading out in the snowdrifts at midnight each night to turn them off! Voila! Timers installed, but voila! one didn't work. Have to get that electrician on the ball.

Other news is that one of my good friends is bringing our dinner tonight! Double hurrah and cheers! Wednesdays are the worst because I spend the morning with my Mom--shower, laundry, cleaning, hair, the works and then I hurry off to Care Net, trying to combine umpteen errands while I'm in Keene anyway, so when do I fix dinner? Early in the morning, in half an hour before I dash out the door, or after I get home at 5:30 or 6. While sitting at the table at dinner last night, I was bemoaning the fact that I'd forgotten to send Helen B. a card for her birthday on Monday, and I was staring at the calendar several feet away to confirm the date, when I spotted a name on today's date! What?? And then the sweet truth dawned. That person's name was there next to the words, "bringing dinner." Praise the Lord for friends.
