The Case of the Missing Sheet

You will never know what I go through with getting the right sheets in the right rooms when preparing for guests! Of course it doesn't help any to have 9 queen sized, 3 king sized plus numerous double and twin sized beds scattered all about the premises. I'm the only one who can tell you which size is where without looking. We have many sets of double bed sheets, but only a limited number of the larger sizes, so when one sheet disappears it's a mini crisis and inevitably I head to the store to buy another set.

After family week in 2004, one of the fitted king sheets was missing. Disappeared, gone, swallowed up, who knows what? These kinds of happenings are such a mystery to me! Where did it go? My first guess is to think that maybe the inhabitant of the room decided to take it home, wash it and return it. Or maybe they were missing one king sheet at home and thought this one would be nice to borrow? I have no idea. So I search all the closet shelves, the sheet storage room, all the closet shelves, the sheet storage room, hoping against hope that I missed it the first time, or someone coughed it up and returned it!

Now. . . .we're getting real close to "mystery solved" here! Monday was our first big day of "spring cleaning!" We attacked the lodge, men's dorm and women's dorm in one fell swoop and finished them all by 3:30 in the afternoon. (Maybe another post on a few further details to follow.) I was on Kimberly's team, along with Megan Adams and we had the very best team of the bunch. We attacked our rooms with swift and deadly gusto. Remember now that this pesky sheet had been missing for going on 2 years! As we were madly scrubbing showers, dusting cobwebs, sweeping out edges, moving furniture and doing all the things you are "supposed" to do, Kimberly Jane discovered, under the bed! the missing sheet!! What does that tell you about anyone who previously "cleaned" that room?? And guess who "spring" cleaned the whole lodge last year??? The guys! I know I'm awful, but "it figures" is what I say.

    Ouch!

Hey, not ALL guys are pitiful cleaners. Some of them are just pitifully slow. I bet I would have found it, but I would also probably be still cleaning the room right now if left to do it alone.

Kimberly told me about her Spring Cleaning team - she was so happy to have been on a team with you, and spoke with a kind of awe about your speed:)

No, Asaphat, not all guys are pitiful cleaners. I'm sure that bathroom in the men's dorm, cleaned by a perfectionist, is the cleanest it's been since you left! Balance is what I like to see though--speed and thoroughness combined!

and Fern, Kimberly is pretty fast herself! I love that girl! not cuz she's fast, though, just cuz I do!
