Nor'easter and Jesus' Return

This weekend, I'm down on the North Shore at the Peterson's for some much needed mental and physical health preservation--otherwise known as R&R! All yesterday there was big hype about the approaching blizzard. With each report, the amount of projected snowfall grew and frenzied expectations rose just a bit higher!

It's amazing to me that we have the technology to predict, track and observe "weather" as it bears down upon us, be it hurricanes, blizzards or whatever. As the sun shone innocently and faithfully most of the day yesterday, I looked out and thought, "I wonder if they really know what they're talking about," but this morning all doubt is gone! The wind is howling, the snow is blowing and our little Subaru is sitting poised at the very end of the driveway where Wendell carefully positioned it last night so I only have to shovel through the drifts the plow makes to drive it onto the street.

In contemplating Jesus' return, I don't really think it will never happen (like with this blizzard) but at times the Hope seems to grow a bit dim. For generations people have been looking and expecting and hoping and gone to their graves not having realized their dream. Will ours be any different? I'm not sure, but I do know that one day, maybe not very far off at all, Jesus will come and we will go! Should we die first, that's okay. So "though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay."

(Winter car care tip: When you are expecting a snowstorm pull your windshield wipers out and stand them straight up. That way they will not freeze and get buried in the accumulated snow on your windshield! Courtesy of Wendell Peterson who did that to mine!)

Thank you:) This was a really insightful parallel. I find myself often thinking along the same lines re: generations coming and going and still looking, hoping..and wonder where in that spectrum we are. Your snow storm thoughts also remind me of the way Aslan returned and melted away the snow after he came back from the Stone Table.
