I Love Christmas Lights!
Enjoying outdoor Christmas lights is one of my most favorite things about this season! From candles in the windows to icicle lights along the eaves--especially when they go all the way up to the peak and then back down the other side, to bedecked evergreens. . .I enjoy them all. Some may have the opinion that it is possible to over decorate and become excessive. I think that is entirely possible, especially in a neighborhood where competion to have the most fantastic and gorgeous light display is hot and heavy, but even then I still enjoy driving by them. And you know what? Each light is another representation of the fact that the Light shined in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it. Whoohoo!
I'm really missing the decorations on the house in Marlborough this year. . .I guess the occupants must be away or have gone broke with paying their electric bill the past few years. Oh, just to make it clear. I really don't enjoy the huge plastic snowmen, Santas and Disney characters on the lawns as they sway in the breeze! And they are especially incongruous perched on barren Southern grass instead of pristine Northern snow! Except this year there's no Northern snow, so the only difference is that because we've had hardly any cold weather, some of the grass is still very green and lush so they look prettier. Oh well, each to his own. You really score when you get to behold Santa on the lawn and a pair of pink flamingoes perched nearby!!
