$11,680 Down the Tube!

Can you believe it? In the past 4 years I have downed $11,680 worth of medicine---not many medicines, but one teenie tiny pill each day that costs $8/pop. The culprit's name is Arimidex and it's a hormone inhibitor that is supposed to fight breast cancer. The good news is that I haven't had to pay one dime for this gold gilded little pill. Astra Zeneca which produces the miniscule round jewel has provided "patient assistance" part of the time and the rest of the time my oncologist has doled out samples--3 month's supply at a time. However, the freebies have come to an end-zilch, zero, no more. "This is my last sample." Dr. Oncologist stated last Tuesday as he handed me a 2 wk supply. I basically told him I thought I'd go off it, but he didn't like that at all. He said he thought I could get the patient assistance again, so we shall see what happens.

I think it is ungodly for drug companies to charge that much for one measly pill that people are required to take for a 5 yr stretch. There again, Dr. Oncologist says that he doesn't blame the drug companies at all for charging that amount of money because they're trying to make money. He blames the govt. for not regulating things. Maybe he's right. I knew my medication was costly, but I just never realized it was that costly. Sigh.

You are worth it! But the price of that one little pill is mind boggling. Will be praying that something will work out for you.
