Car Rentals--Ugh!

Today I flew down to Philly to attend a graduation for Johnny Demme. I offered to rent a car at the airport so Steve wouldn't have to make 2 round trips to the airport to pick up 6 of us, so I reserved a van. Well, just wouldn't you know it? When we shuttled over to the car rental company and I walked up to pick up the car, they said, "How about a Chevy Tahoe? We don't have a van!" There's nothing really wrong with a Tahoe, but 6 people and their luggage just won't fit. I said as nicely as I know how, "So reserving a car ahead of time really doesn't mean anything does it?"

They tried to talk me into 2 cars for the price of one, but I was the only driver so that didn't do any good. Bev and I went out to the Tahoe to see if we could sandwich ourselves in, but just then a man came out and said that a van had just come in! Praise the Lord or we might still be in Philly!

Most of the time, I don't mind an upgrade at all, because you get a nicer car for less money! But this time I just plain needed that van, no matter what car they offered me!!
